Modern Farmhouse

Overlooking the ski area from a unique downtown lot, GB Design Build created the space for clients nostalgic for early American farmhouses. The property, featuring an L-shaped silhouette reminiscent of farmhouse architecture, combines white clapboard siding and a streamlined façade with stone accents.

The home’s entrance, highlighted by floor-to-ceiling glass, reveals a warm interior of thick stone walls, white oak floors, and soft hemlock ceilings, using a German schmear technique with the mortar, for a European cottage feel. Discrete hallways lead to private spaces, while the open-plan living area merges with a garden-view patio, complete with a water feature and a stone, steel-clad hearth near a Mediterranean-style kitchen.

Custom elements like built-in window seats, a steel climbing frame for cats, and whimsical artwork define the space. Upstairs, three ensuite bedrooms showcase unique designs, while a media den conceals guest bunks. The master suite connects to a corn crib-inspired outdoor area and a rooftop garden with urban and natural views.

Designed for both function and delight, the home captures the essence of its elevated locale.
